Weekly Forecast > Who is Next?

2007 has been an interesting season so far. On Draft Day, who would have thought Kenny Watson, Justin Fargas and Earnest Graham would all be outperforming Shaun Alexander, Steven Jackson or Rudi Johnson? Who could have predicted that Marvin Harrison or Marc Bulger would be such busts while Wes Welker and Derek Anderson be two of the most reliable fantasy options?

The season never totally pans out how anybody predicts. The Patriots, Colts, Cowboys and, very quietly, the Packers have a combined three losses. Tom Brady has been the first-half MVP with an amazing 32 TD in nine games. Adrian Peterson has taken over the league, leading the rushing attack with 1,036 yards and eight TDs through eight games. Despite splitting time a large portion of the first half, he’s still on pace to break the NFL record for total yards in a season (2,429 yards by Marshall Faulk). Randy Moss already has a dozen TD grabs for the 9-0 Pats – he only grabbed 11 the past two lost seasons for the Raiders.

What player will be the most potent performer in the second half? Only time will tell… The Weekly Forecast gets your prepared for another week of action now.

Quarterbacks
Since Matt Leinart suffered a season-ending collarbone injury, Kurt Warner has done an inadequate job as the Cardinals starting QB. In fact, he’s winless in three games, while going 39-for-73 for 475 yards, two TD and four INT. He’s also been knocked out of a couple games via injury. His luck is going to change though; with matchups against Detroit, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Seattle and New Orleans, he’s going against five of the league’s worst eight pass defenses in the next six weeks. This news also bodes well for Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin.

Injury List
David Carr (concussion) – doubtful, Testaverde/Moore expected to start
Jay Cutler (leg) – questionable, likely will start
Trent Edwards (wrist) – doubtful, J.P. Losman will start
David Garrard (ankle) – game-time decision, Quinn Gray would replace
Kelly Holcomb (neck) – questionable, not expected to play
Tarvaris Jackson (concussion) – might be backup, Brooks Bollinger expected to start
Byron Leftwich (ankle) – out, might return in Week 11, Joey Harrington will start Wk 10
J.P. Losman (knee) – will start this week
Josh McCown (foot) – will start, Daunte Culpepper or JaMarcus Russell will be backup
Matt Schaub (hip, concussion) – on bye, questionable for Week 11, Sage Rosenfels would replace
Vinny Testaverde (Achilles’) – questionable, Matt Morris would replace

Running Backs
Maurice Morris looks primed to see an extended role for the Seahawks Monday Night against San Francisco. Shaun Alexander is hurting bad still; he’s playing with a cracked wrist, a sprained knee and a poorly performing offensive line. At this point, Alexander is probably worth dropping. He’s been able to amass just 139 rushing yards in four games since September, on an abysmal 2.4 yards per carry. The Hawks still consider him their No. 1 RB, but Morris and Leonard Weaver will continue taking on a bigger role as the season concludes.

Injury List
Shaun Alexander (knee, wrist) – questionable, likely will not play
Chris Brown (ankle) – questionable, might be LenDale White’s backup
Michael Bush (leg) – taken off PUP, uncertain when he’ll be activated
Frank Gore (ankle) – game-time decision, Michael Robinson and Maurice Hicks will compete for carries if he cannot go
Ahman Green (knee) – probable, might share time with Ron Dayne and Adimchinobe Echemandu
Travis Henry
(ribs) – questionable, Selvin Young would replace
Steven Jackson (groin) – will start in Week 10
Larry Johnson (foot) – out indefinitely, Priest Holmes, Kolby Smith will replace
Rudi Johnson (hamstring) – probable, will likely play
Willis McGahee (concussion) – probable, expected to start
Sammie Morris (chest) – out for the season
Jerious Norwood (ankle) – questionable, likely will not play, Artose Pinner will be Warrick Dunn’s backup
Chris Perry (ankle) – off PUP list, uncertain when he’ll be activated
Michael Pittman (leg) – expected to return in Week 11
Derrick Ward (ankle) – doubtful, not expected to play
Ricky Williams (suspension) – likely out for the season
DeShawn Wynn (shoulder) – out for the season, Ryan Grant will start

Wide Receivers
The Bengals hope to have "the best ever" Chad Johnson and Chris Henry active for Week 10 against the Ravens. Johnson had to be carted off and hospitalized at the end of last week’s game, but has been able to return to practice this week and is expected to suit up. Meanwhile, Henry has finished up serving his eight-game NFL-imposed suspension and is poised for a big second half. Remember, he scored nine TDs in his 13 games last season – he just finds the end zone.

Injury List
Jason Avant (groin) – probable, will play
Deion Branch (foot) – questionable, not expected to play on MNF
Troy Brown (knee surgery) – return uncertain
Michael Clayton (ankle) – bye, might return in Week 11
Laveranues Coles (concussion) – bye, likely will return in Week 11
Ronald Curry (foot) – questionable, expected to play
Terry Glenn (knee surgery) – out indefinitely
Anthony Gonzalez (thumb) – out 2-3 weeks
Marvin Harrison (knee) – doubtful, game-time decision again
Chris Henry (CIN) (suspension) – will return in Week 10
Ike Hilliard (calf) – questionable, expected to play
Andre Johnson (knee) – bye, will return in Week 11
Chad Johnson (neck) – expected to play
Eddie Kennison (hamstring) – will play this week
Steve Smith (NYG) – doubtful, likely won’t play
Bobby Wade (knee) – questionable, likely will play
Javon Walker (knee) – out, might return in Week 12?
Troy Williamson (personal) – might return in Week 10
