PRO/CON Marvin Harrison

Mike Mady PRO Marvin Harrison

Marvin Harrison (PRO) – Many fantasy owners are shying away from Harrison in drafts due to his injury struggles last season and concerns heading into 2008. Harrison is becoming an afterthought in drafts but may become a painful reminder of what could have been to those who pass on him. Harrison’s five-game season in 2007 is more likely an aberration than a trend as it is the first time since 1998 that he had missed more than one game in a season. Since 1999, Harrison has averaged 94 receptions for 1274 yards and 11.3 touchdowns – and that is including last season’s 20 receptions, 247 yards and one touchdown stat line. Also, the fact that Harrison plays with a world-class quarterback, who has years of established chemistry with him, doesn’t hurt. Harrison is expected to be ready to go early in the season and could turn into a steal for those that are getting him below market value.

Derek Jones CON Marvin Harrison

Marvin Harrison (CON) – A dark cloud hovers over Harrison as 2008 approaches. After suffering a knee injury last season, the Colts brass covered up his ailment throughout the season and by his return against the Chargers in the playoffs, it was painfully clear that Harrison was not ready to play. While the Colts proclaim him “healthy” for the ’08 campaign, don’t rush out to draft the future Hall of Famer. Harrison is coming off the first major injury of his NFL career and in the interim was supplanted by Reggie Wayne as the team’s go to guy. At 35 and coming off of a serious injury, Harrison’s skill set is likely to erode very soon. Remember, prior to the injury he only averaged 49 yards receiving per game and had one touchdown to his credit in five games. Another potential problem for him will be the emergence of second year receiver Anthony Gonzalez.

Hey Jones- check ur facts re his pre-injury stats last year.
He got hurt in game 3.
Had 83 yds and a TD in game 1.
87 yds in game 2.
And had 53 yds prior to getting hurt in game 3 (those are pretty Marvin-like games).
He did try and play in games 4 and 7 as well as in Indy's playoff game but these were attempts to try and get something out of him instead of writing off the season and getting surgery right away.
